How it all started

                                 How It All Started

The Game of basketball is my personal favourite. It was presented to a YMCA as a winter sport by Dr. James Naismith and was first officially played on January 20th, 1892 in Springfield, Massachusetts. But it has been around for many more years than that. The Olmec people of ancient Mexico played a similar type of game over 500 years ago. The game lasted 30 minutes and the score was 1-0.The Game grew in popularity and within a few years, and new Basketball leagues began forming, including the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
Fun Facts:
The first national professional basketball team was the Boston Celtics. (Funner Fact: They were a knockoff of the New York Celtics that ended in WWI)
